The world of soccer is changing rapidly and the core of this change is due to Lionel Messi, the greatest soccer player of all time. Every summer, the world is consumed with team transfers and trades, but it is always exciting when a top player, such as Messi, decides to leave their club to try out a new one. Messi is widely known as the greatest soccer player and also has been known as a Barcelona legend, seeming as if he would never leave the club he had joined at the young age of 17. Surprisingly, this last summer, a problem came up in the Barcelona budget, causing them to not have enough money to afford Messi. This quickly became a big upset among Barcelona players and fans. After many attempts of trying to cheat the system, Barcelona finally accepted that Messi could no longer stay at the club and were forced to release him.

When the news got out that Messi was a free agent, almost every big club in the world tried to recruit him. The top two competitors were Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The choice was tough for Messi but he decided to go with PSG. In recent years, PSG have been a soccer powerhouse with owning players such as Neymar, Mbappe, Sergio Ramos, and many other famous players. Adding Leo Messi will make them practically unstoppable. But, to many spectators’ surprise, Messi hasn’t added much to PSG’s team as he has only had a couple starts and 3 goals. This is atrocious for Messi’s standards. Many assume this is just a funk that was caused from the sudden change of teams and the emotional impact that has been placed on Messi by fans and past teammates.

Soccer is changing and it is on a path that is full of many more surprises. The only thing fans can do is sit back and enjoy the show.
